It is election day.

Every two years, every state rep in the state of Texas, every congressman in the U.S. Congress, the lower house, the House of Representatives, is up for election.

Every six years, one-third of the senators in the state of Texas, and one-third of the U.S.

senators across the country are up for election.

That is a six-year term.

Those are all even-number elections. Every four years, there is a presidential

election as every quadrenial. In 2020, 2016, of course, Trump is elected. 2020, the election

was stolen. 2024, he wins again. In between those four-year elections where turnout is much higher because media coverage is much higher, there is what is known as a midterm.

That is halfway through the term of the president.

That's what we're at now.

That will always be a lower voter turnout.

Those are more engaged voters.

So we had our Republican primary in March. And for those candidates who did not win 51% of the vote because there was a crowded field, if there were two candidates, they would have to win 51.

But because there were three, four, five, six, seven, a number of people in the race, they didn't get 51 percent. Now we go to a runoff 10 weeks later. In the meantime, we had school board elections. So it is perfectly understandable if you say, I'm confused, we're always voting. It's almost as if the system was designed for you to be confused, but we navigate this minefield because it's important.

And so now we are in the runoff for that March primary, the two candidates who are left.
