Chris Ernest was a father of five living in the memorial area in the public school

to which those children go Spring Branch Independent School District had fallen

into the hands of neglect and decay and

maybe some corruption, certainly some nasty politics and maybe some self-dealing.

The results were a lack of quality education. I'd been hearing from parents for some time

their frustration over the failings of a school district that wasn't as bad as H-I-S-D

But wasn't as good as it could have been and

should have been. And Chris Ernest reached out and said he was running and I hoped he

would win but wasn't sure because first-time candidates usually don't and good guys

finish last when it comes to politics almost always sad to say but it's true but he did win.

He did everything it took to win and I want to talk about that in just a moment but first

You brought one of my favorite guys from HPD or your district did

From the Houston Police Department over to be the chief of police at the Spring Branch

Independent School District police force and he had an opportunity to brag on his guys for preventing what could have been a terrible

school shooting and was intended to be a terrible school shooting.
