Much of the history behind Halloween, it turns out, has the deeper meaning.

Wasn't just our fascination with scaring people.

It was our fascination with death.

And this inevitable end to all of our journeys and how we cope with death, I've always

been fascinated by this.

From the Aztecs to the Taibudis, the Catholics, Protestants, today, by the way, today, the

day in 1517, when Martin Luther, tax, I think, 94 items in what became the Diet of

Verms, where he protested against the Catholic Church in Hindenburg, Germany, and what

became, he became from that a Protestant, a marked man for death, a Protestant against

the Church, leading a change in modification, a reformation, setting off the reformation

of the Catholic Church by those who protested the selling of, what's it called, Ramon?

When you did something wrong, when you divorced your wife, when you, you know, there was a

grievous error that you committed, you could get an indulgence, the selling of indulgences,

the use of the Church, much like we do politics today, the use of the Church, and you could

make a payment to the Church, that's how they got rich, for saying, oh, it's okay,

you can have a divorce.

So that's where the Protestant began.

But a fascination and an attempt to cope with death is so much a part of the Halloween

experience, the All Saints Day, all Hallows Day, the Feast of All Saints, the Feast of

All Hallows, the salinity of All Saints, or Hallow Moss.

It was actually a Christian salinity, celebrated in honor of the Saints of the Church, known

and unknown.
