A couple weeks ago, the Houston City Council.

As I've mentioned, if you serve on Houston City Council, it's a nonpartisan position.

You don't run as a Republican or Democrat, at least officially.

Voters don't have the opportunity to vote for you in a primary, a Democrat or Republican primary.

When you go to the general election,

you don't get the benefit of having a D or R and getting all the votes of the people of your party voting for you.

So candidates will often run on the basis of,

depending on where they're running,

but if they're running at large they're run on issues of of fiscal

accountability a better run city a safer city these sorts of things but then they get there and

they get very partisan because your next office there are no nonpartisan offices after that so

your next office is going to be as a

D or an R. And the Democrats have a tendency to want to take on really stupid issues. And Rodney Ellis puts

them up to this. And you're not getting elected in the region without Rodney Ellis's support.

That's just, that's the structure he has built. He controls the

Progressive Justice League money. He's got a lock on the black vote. He's got the mailers.

He's got the endorsements. He's got the money. And so the white, the, the white moderate candidates have
