I was stunned.

You know, simple things like that illustrate something more than the simple thing we think of.

Simple things like that reflect a view of humanity.

They seem simple, but they reflect something much deeper.

And when you lose that thing that is much deeper, it manifests itself by an able-bodied man sitting in a chair

while a pregnant woman or an elderly woman or any other woman walking in,

remains standing and he doesn't offer her a chair.

I'll tell you there's different values in different cultures.

And if you see a culture that doesn't get up for a woman at a moment like that,

it will tell you much more about that culture than just what they do when they're in a seat.
