I'm going to pull from an email that's representative of many that I have received.

And I feel I need to repeat this because I guess it's atypical.

I don't take

arguments or discussions personally.

I view ideas as products.

So if I like Dr. Pepper and you like Coke,

and we're discussing the merits and demerits of each.

And I say that Coke is like warmed over urine.

I don't intend that as an insult to you.

That's just the way I talk when I'm in the middle of a passionate discussion

as to which of these things I like better

or which idea I like better.

And I can call your idea imbeolic, as odd as it sounds, without in any way intending to

insult you personally.

Maybe that's a fool's errand on my part, but I get passionate about discussions.

And so when I think arguments are stupid or when I think they're representative of what's wrong with our country, I'm going to say so.
