Many people don't realize that

most police officers work an extra job and it's good that they do because it means we have a lot more officers on the street than

you realize because the departments can't keep up with the crime.

And it just means you're privatizing the expense of keeping people on duty.

They often, I know a number of law enforcement officers,

not just HPD, sheriff's deputies, you name it, all levels who will take a pay cut from another

job to go be a police officer because it's in their blood, they have sheepdog mentality.

They want to help people.

And there really are good people who do this.

But they can't, um, they can't match what they could make on the outside and they don't have the upside that they

would in the private sector.

But they do it and the way they make it makes sense and then they can still buy things for their kids
