I got a message from Payton who works with Western Pacific Building Materials.

He said, I live in New Cane.

That young man did my trash cans on Saturday.

The money's going to charity now.

I just messaged him on Facebook and told him to call in.

Great kid, great family. He just had a birthday.

I'm glad that email came in because this is something that has been on my mind for a while.

I am delighted when people feel and urge a drive, a ministry, a commitment to find a good charitable cause

and share some of their bounty with that charity.

I don't call camp hope a charity, even though for tax purposes, it counts as a charitable entity.

Donations are tax deductible because we're helping veterans who have served in combat.

And I don't think that their needs require charity of us.

I view it more as a solemn duty, an obligation that we should all feel.

And yeah, I'll leave that there.

But part of the message of economic empowerment is understanding that profit is good.

It concerns me a great deal.

And this is never small business owners who say this.

It's just people who draw a paycheck.
