Whose Floyd Lawson you ask?

Well, you may know him as Floyd the Barber from the Andy Griffiths show.

Floyd the Barber, as you know, was the slow-paced, somewhat absent-minded barber in the town of Mayberry.

But I bet you didn't know that Floyd was played by three actors.

Yes, sir, the character was introduced in Season 1 and was first played by Walter Baldwin.

Baldwin was Floyd the Barber for all of one episode.

Norman McNair is the actor most associated with the character.

He took over the role and would have played the character of Floyd into the final episode of Season 7.

Floyd the Barber retired when McNair left the show and the barber shop was closed for good.

Emmett Clark moved his fixed shop from his home into the old barber shop right next to the courthouse.

So where does the third actor to play the character of Floyd come in?

Well, midway through Season 3, Norman McNair suffered a serious stroke,

and he did not return into the end of Season 4.

While he was gone, there was a quick scene of Andy and Opie walking out of the barber shop.

If you look in the window, you see Floyd cutting hair.

But if you look really close like, it wasn't Norman McNair playing Floyd.

There was an uncredited actor standing in as a body double.

After his stroke, Norman was paralyzed on the left side of his body,
