Welcome to our daily Rosary meditation. Let's begin in the name of the Father and the

Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to

pray for. Many of us think we're safe when it comes to the Ten Commandments, particularly in the case of the Seventh Commandment,

thou shalt not steal. We think, well, I'm pretty safe there. I haven't robbed a bank or I haven't broken into anyone's

house lately but not so fast. The catechism of the Catholic Church applies the

Seventh Commandment to a lot more than that, listen to some of the economic activities

that are condemned under the commandment thou shalt not steal

deliberate retention of goods lent or of objects lost

dang I have some books in my office. I really need to give back. Do you think it's

stealing if you scratch out the owner's name and put your own name in?

I know it's even more criminal. Yeah. Catechism talks about

business fraud or paying unjust wages. I wonder how many people have ever read

what the church teaches about paying a family wage.

Or forcing up prices by taking advantage of the

common goods of another person or appropriation and use for private purposes

the common goods of an organization or work poorly done is a violation of the

Seventh Commandment or excessive waste is a violation of the seventh commandment.

But how can all of these,

some of them are, which are very uncomfortably familiar, how can these count as stealing?

Our Father who art in heaven, hallow would be your name, Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
