It's estimated nearly 7 million older Americans have Alzheimer's disease, a number that's expected to double in coming decades.

There's no cure for this devastating illness that leads to memory loss,

cognitive decline, and behavioral changes.

But as our Dr. John LePug will tell us,

there's more optimism now than ever before,

thanks to some breakthrough treatments. Here on the left and on the top, these are all amyloid plaques.
