Nearly 30 years ago, Wheaton College graduate Chris Fritz tried to get his alma mater to come clean about Dennis Massaro. At the time, Wheaton had just fired Massaro after two students and an alumnus accused the popular

administrator of molesting them. Chris had been a witness of one of Masaro's assaults and was

shocked that Wheaton not only kept the reason for Masaro's dismissal secret, it also allowed

the alleged predator on campus. He would be at homecoming.

He would be walking at football games or soccer games.

And, you know, he was just there.

It was inexplicable because we'd been told that they were not going to allow him on campus. And they were going to prevent him from ever be in a position of working

with this particular demographic again. That obviously wasn't happening. But when Whedon

refused the pleas from Chris and some of his classmates to expose Massaro, Chris moved on. Yet in

2003, something happened that awakened Chris's passion for justice and accountability.

It seems like I shouldn't just be keeping that to myself and I should tell them.

I started my calls in May and then I got a call for a note that, hey, Wheaton in January,

I think it was, that Wheaton is opening an investigation, and they hired a law firm

to investigate.

They got to the point where, like, I asked the trustees, well, like, where's the, can I see

the report?

Oh, they didn't write a report.

They just made recommendations.
