Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

You can probably hear the sleet hitting the window,

but it's warm by the fire.

So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

It's called to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

In the sermon on the Mount Jesus said,

when you give alms, your left hand must not know what your right is doing.

Your almsgiving must be in secret, and your father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you.

So Jesus has told us to pray, to fast, and to give alms. The primary

reason we pray is not to have peace and happiness. The primary reason we fast is not to lose weight or

have good health. And the primary reason we give alms is not to bring about a better world

or a better life for people. No. The primary reason we pray, fast, and give alms is for the love of Jesus, to give ourselves to him in return for all that he has given us, but we can be in danger of

missing the point. We think we give our money to bring about some good in the church, the world, or for some people.

But that's not the primary reason we give.

We give our money because. The primary reason to Jesus. The primary reason to

pray, fast and give alms is to give yourself to God.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallow it be your name.

Thy kingdom come, they will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us to stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass

against us and lead us not into temptation but to the veris from evil, amen.
