Café and it's almost ready for you I want to do a show about being an outsider in America

back when I lived in Egypt I didn't show about being an outsider in America.

Back when I lived in Egypt, I didn't fit in that well.

I was always pissing of the government.

But at least, I could say I was a doctor.

I had a talk show. And I had something else going for me. I looked like everyone else.

But then I moved to America, and now I'm not so sure what I am besides being an outsider a brown guy in a white country a guy who doesn't quite fit in

I've also been talking to lots of people about their experience of being an outsider,

and it turns out that you don't have to be an immigrant to feel like you don't belong.

What you look like determines what you get to play.

I'll joke that it's like oh I dreamt of playing a

doctor on TV and now I've only played doctors. When a world is telling you that

you're a certain way, how do you not internalize that? This show is hosted by an immigrant, me, but it's about topics that matter to all of us.

What does it mean to be American? Who gets to join that club?

And who feels like they are not invited?

Join me as we talk about America,

from a totally different perspective.

In the first few episodes, we will talk about a lot of things,

including what it's like to be an outsider in the media.

I didn't even want to apply to the internship at NPR because I thought I wasn't good enough. I myself had closed the

doors because I was like come on I'll never get hired I'm not white and I'm not a man.
