True Hauntings is a frightfully good production.

In the heart of Oakham Rutland lies an abandoned jail that was known by the name of Her Majesty's Prison Ashwell.

It first opened its doors in 1955 as an open men's prison that was built on the site of a former World War II US Army base,

home to part of the 82nd Airborne Division.

Ashwall Prison has been home to many criminals,

and like other penal establishments, it has witnessed plenty of negative emotions, violence and deaths.

The prison is said to be plagued by strange sounds.

Shadows are seen moving across derelict rooms and footsteps are said to follow unsuspecting visitors.

There have also been many reports of dark shadowy figures throughout the prison buildings and its grounds,

and visitors say that they have felt like they've been pushed out of cell doors

as though the former inmate doesn't want them invading his space.
