of alligator Alcatraz. A federal judge in Miami ordered the first state-run immigration detention

facility to be dismantled.

Her ruling says the state and federal governments did not consider the environmental impacts of

building the facility and that it could harm wetlands and communities that depend on the Everglades for their water supply.

The Trump administration had argued federal environmental laws did not apply because it's a state-run

facility. But the center houses federal detainees received federal funding and was constructed under

federal direction. So the judge decided that was enough to mean it must follow federal laws.

Florida says it will appeal. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is stepping up its crackdown on both

illegal and legal

immigration. This week, it said it would review all of the 55 million foreigners who have valid

U.S. visas to see if any need to be deported. Officials will be looking for things like people who

have overstayed, people who have committed crimes or other public safety threats. By the way,
