I dreamed about the city of God last night. This has been the most surprising vision of all

for I confess I don't like cities. I've never been particularly moved when reading passages

about the city of God or the new Jerusalem.

But this city was unlike any I've ever seen.

None of the crowding, the grinding noise, the sooty concrete, none of the... the Mediterranean city, whitewashed buildings, winding walkways, stairs leading up to open doorways.

Everything had an elegant, curving whimsy to it.

All windows and doors were arched.

There were many domed roofs.

Architecture as poetry, soothing to the soul. The place was filled with a soft light. It reminded me of

pictures I've seen of the beautiful Greek island of Santarini or the old city of

Jerusalem. But of Jerusalem.

But of course.

It was enchanting in ways I've never experienced on Earth.

Each winding path made so many turns, ascending and descending stairs, coming suddenly upon

fountains and courtyards, with any number of possible doors and gateways leading

off, it was the sort of place you would want to explore for a long time.

But what most captured me was the laughter I heard within those bright rooms, laughter kind and playful, gentle and true, laughter

like it was the native tongue of the place. Welcome to the Ransom tar podcast.
