You're listening to All The More Books, a weekly show about books of all kinds.

0:15.0

I'm your host, Danica Ellis, and today I'm talking about horror books you can read from cover to cover on Halloween night.

0:22.7

So I just finished my favorite day of the year, my favorite holiday, which is Dewey's 24-hour

0:30.8

readathon.

0:31.4

I'm sure I've talked about it many times on the podcast, but this is a readathon that started, I want to say like 15 years ago.

0:40.2

I have been doing it twice a year, every year for the past decade. And I love it so much.

0:46.9

When I started, I did it solo and I would read and then cheer people on on social media,

0:52.7

which was fun. But over the years, I have

0:55.4

roped in more people. So most of the time, me and my roommate do it together. This year,

1:31.4

usually horror books, Halloween-adjacent books. And because I'm me, generally those are

1:37.6

queer horror books. It's so much fun to deep dive on a genre for a day. And just to be clear, 24-hour rate-a-thon,

1:47.3

doesn't mean you have to have your eyes on the page for 24-hour straight. It's just reading as

1:52.1

much as you can in a 24-hour time span. So I didn't stay at the full 24-hour hours, but it's a

2:00.5

celebration of books. It's reading as much as you can.

2:03.5

And even though the Dewey's Day has passed for October, I highly recommend doing a Halloween-themed

2:11.6

readathon. If you were at all interested or even curious about horror, there's something about reading horror

2:20.1

books when you're a little bit sleep deprived that is peak. It is an experience. And that's why

2:28.9

today I'm going to recommend you some books you can read from cover to cover, some novellas,
