And today I'm going to tell you about some books that feature art and museums and theft and heists and all sorts of that sort of good stuff. This is absolutely

0:28.3

being brought to you because of my obsession with a book that I talked about on the main podcast,

0:33.3

which you may have heard me talk about, and that's The Macab by Kosoko Jackson. That book just

0:38.0

rocked my world. I keep thinking about it. It's probably going to be one of my best books of the year.

0:43.1

It is a book that talks about art, but it's also has this really delicious like horror through

0:48.6

line. It's about a person who has been brought to the British Museum or so he thinks because of

an art exhibit that they've asked him to

1:19.3

Paintings that were done by his own great-grandfather and that are scattered across the world

and need to be recovered at all costs. It is so great. It is like dark fantasy.

1:29.9

There's a queer romance element, but it's definitely about art and like the power of art.

1:34.5

It has just explorations of identity, and it goes into some really just deliciously creepy,

1:40.0

gory places, and it's just such a good book, so you should absolutely go read that.

1:43.5

But it got me to thinking about how much I enjoy books that have art and museums at their core and the interesting ways that they provide some social commentary and are also sometimes just plain old fun. So today I'm going to tell you about one adult book that I've already read and loved, one that's on my TVR and that I've just started, and then one that is a series starter for a

2:01.2

really, really fun series for kids. So let's dive into that. But before we do so, let's hear

for more sponsor. Today's episode is brought to you by Bloomsbury Publishing, Publishersers
