2025, in fact, has been a long year for a lot of us. I know it has for me.

I also realize we are only at mid-November, but frankly, just getting this far feels

like a success. I also live in the very northwest corner of the contiguous United States. Shout

out to Western Washington, especially very Western and very northern Western Washington. So we have

reached a very dark and rainy time of year in my part of the world.

One of the ways I am handling all of that, in addition to regularly talking to a therapist,

is by moving early into my holiday reading.

And I'm going to help you do the same.

Now, stick with me, at least for a minute, even if you are not a

holiday person or a holiday book person. The books I'm going to talk about are tied to Christmas

and Hanukkah, but neither of these books are so closely tied that they're going to go full

hallmark save the Christmas tree farm slash gingerbread bakery storyline movie. It just happens that the

holidays are helpful framing to gather a particular group of people together. Also, just, you know,

hear me out if these books aren't for you. You can still gish them to someone who might be more

inclined or more, more seasonally, you know, inclined in their reading.

One of the books I'm going to talk about is a mystery. The other has some light fantasy to it.

And I think they might both have broader appeal than, say, the Netflix movie single all the way,

although that movie is a delight and Jennifer Coolidge is a treasure. So, you know, maybe also watch that. But anyway, enough background. Let's take a quick break and we'll talk about some books.
