You're listening to All the More Books, a weekly show about books of all kinds.

0:15.0

I'm your host, Anna Alice.

0:17.1

This is episode number 515.5. And today I'm talking about some of my favorite queer bee trees.

0:24.8

So recently on Book Riot, we put up a list of the best beech reads of all time.

0:32.0

This was a big undertaking. We had a lot of nominations. We had a lot of conversation about which books should

0:39.6

be included and really tried to emphasize the all-time because I think it's really easy to think

0:46.5

about recent books that are good beach reads. But, you know, there's some older backlist titles

0:51.5

that deserve to be in your beach bag, too. So as part of that, I put together

0:58.3

a list of my favorite queer beach reads, and I wanted to share some of those with you.

1:26.3

as we, as we talk about the books that we nominated, we also talk about what makes this a beech read and how we define beatread and the different kinds of beach reads there are.

1:37.4

Because for me, I feel like there's kind of two of the most popular subcategories, which are romance and other feel-good light books,

1:48.9

or mysteries and thrillers, which are almost the opposite.

1:54.3

So it's very funny that those are both considered beach reads.

1:57.8

But I think some people are looking for something really fluffy and light,

2:01.8

and some people are looking for something that's really going to keep them turning the pages.

2:07.4

I tend to lean towards the light side of things. When I think of beach reads, I think of something

2:14.2

very optimistic, romantic, just nothing that's going to bring me down on a beach

2:21.0

day. So that's sort of what I've concentrated on in this list of queer beach reads. But before we

2:28.0

talk about those books, I want to mention All Access and our new giveaway. So if you want to level up your reading life, you should become a book write, all-access
