Some are new, some are old, but I can promise you that all of them are books.

I am your host for the week, Tricia Brown, and this is

0:21.2

episode number 517.5, airing on June 20th, 2025. We are going epistolary this week. Couldn't tell you why.

0:31.3

Honestly, I was just in the mood. Though truthfully, I am always in the mood for an epistolary novel.

0:36.0

Stories told through letters are one of my very

0:38.2

favorite types of prose. In fact, the first book that I was ever hand sold in a bookstore as a

0:43.9

teenager, shout out Scott's bookstore, long since closed, unfortunately, but boy, it was a legend in its time.

I was a teenager. That book was an epistolary novel. It was called The Last Days of Summer by Steve Kluger, and I absolutely loved it. long time love of letters and books, which brings us many, many years later after that day in

1:26.9

Scott's bookstore to today's episode,

1:29.2

which we are going to return to after a quick break.

This episode is sponsored by Strong Sense of Place.

In each episode, hosts Mel and Dave explore a new destination like Scotland, Seattle, or Thailand,

1:50.9

and bring it to life through five hand-picked books. You'll get a story-packed intro into the

culture, the people, the food, and the quirks of the place, followed by a TVR full of
