A lot has been happening already in 2026, and honestly, a lot of it, maybe even most of it, is not great.

But some good things have also happened.

For example, a new report that came out last month showed that cancer survival rates across

five years are at an all-time high.

That's a big deal.

We, we being humanity, discovered a new Earth-like planet.

Who doesn't love a new planet?

And on January 14th, we hit eight years, four months, and 29 days

since a nuclear weapon has been detonated on Earth, which is the longest span of time without a

detonation since the nuclear age began in 1945. Now, all of that probably sounds like I had to

Google it to find it. And I did. Obviously, I did. But honestly, I feel like that might be one of the

remaining good uses for the internet. So I'm good with it. I can live with that. One other phenomenon

that I did not have to Google because of my algorithm on social media that has taken over in many

entertainment lives and maybe also your social media, at least in the early days of

26, is the rise and adoration of a Canadian television show called Heated Rivalry.

Technically, the first season actually wrapped up in December of 2025, but the passion,

dare I say, fervor, has stayed strong and maybe even grown in the last month.

Those of you who don't know, Heated Rivalry is an adaptation of a romance novel.
