Chris Whitaker is a profound writer and New York Times bestselling author.

His latest novel, All the Colors of the Dark, is one of his most personal novels yet,

He has been earning the adoration of readers

and critics thanks to his genre-bending masterpiece. His novel is a heart-wrenching tale of light and

dark, devotion, and obsession, and the fine line that separates them. It's hard to believe that

Chris started his career as a financial trader, where he worked for 10 years before deciding to pursue his passion of writing.

Chris is from the UK, and growing up, he was an avid reader.

He discovered Stephen King at the age of 10, hiding his copy of the novel It inside his comic book.

Chris initially found writing as a way to cope with

trauma after enduring some of his darkest moments in life, and he credits writing for having

saved his life twice. I had the chance to sit down with Chris at the Aspen Ideas Festival,

with an audience full of fans, where we talked about what led him to writing, the

inspiration behind the characters in his book, and how he transformed tragedy into triumph.

We also chat about turning this incredible book into a television series, which my production

company, Thousand Voices, is producing, in partnership with NBC Universal Studio Group

and Dinner Party Productions.
