We are, as you have likely noticed, solidly in summer, here in the Northern Hemisphere, and I just

took a screenshot of my weather app the other day, because you know how it has that thing where

it tells you what time the sun rose and what time it's going to set and how many

hours of daylight you have? Well, we currently have nearly 16 and a half hours of daylight where I live and I made a note to send myself this screenshot reminding myself of that in six months when we have less than half of that amount of time and it's going to feel even worse because it's going to be cloudy and probably raining.

But for now, it's very much summer, and today I have for you a couple of books that start out in the summer,

and then wrap up several decades later.

Several years later.

but we will get to all of that in just a minute.
