And this week I'm going to be diving into the stacks to talk about two great books about

teenagers who have significant and or important relationships with seniors in their lives.

And I wanted to talk about this because it's been something that's been on my mind for

a little while.

I think that YA books sometimes overlook significant relationships with older adults just

because we kind of live in an age of society.

I think it's kind of hilarious when you consider how many teenagers and YA novels have grandparents

that are in their 80s.

Sometimes the math just doesn't really work out.

A lot of people are really fortunate to have grandparents that are on the younger end

and are more active and involved in their lives.

And that's just not often portrayed in YA fiction as much.

So in these two books, I picked them because they were really memorable to me in having a

really great relationship between the teen protagonist and this older adult and their

community, which I think is really awesome because there's so much that we can learn from

not only our elders, but also just their communities as well.
