Take a moment to prepare yourselves for communion.

Communion is simply the act of taking some bread or a cracker or some juice or some wine

and using those to remember the person, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

So take a moment, grab your juice, grab your bread, and let's prepare to spend these moments remembering Jesus.

In John chapter 6, Jesus said words that could sound a little odd.

He said, my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink.

Of course, later in Matthew 26, we realized that he was referring to this act of communion.

But in this act of communion, Jesus took bread and he said, eat it.

And it is representative of my flesh.

And his flesh, he said, is true food.

Think for a moment about the feeling of eating true food.

A meal that is your favorite.

Maybe it's from your favorite restaurant.

Maybe it's the holiday meal that your grandmother and your mother cook and prepare for the family.

Think of a meal that is true food.

Think of what it feels like after eating that meal.

You feel full, satisfied, complete, maybe even little sleepy and at rest.

That is how Jesus wants to be for you today in this moment.

So right now take your bread and let's eat it together.

Now let's pray this together.

Jesus, we thank you for your body, your body that was broken for us,
