by the white house on tuesday in the coming months the Department of Homeland Security aims to implement a policy that allows

select migrants to apply for lawful permanent resident status, along with any non-citizen spouses

and children of lawful U.S. permanent residents. A measure the White House says could offer protection to about

a half million American families. But with the number of non-detained migrants continuing to grow

at the southern border, there's mixed opinions on what the impacts of this policy could be,

with lawmakers like Republican Congressman Richard McCormick saying this.
