Hey everybody. This is James Lindsay, and you're listening to New Discourse's bullets, where I give a short bullet point like summary of a single topic relevant to woke that we all need to understand so we

can beat it and I want to talk about the woke inevitability spell it's like a magic spell

woke people do all the time we might also call it all roads lead to woke although that's a humorous

but somewhat unclear name but the woke inevitability, or all roads lead to woke, or really, it could be all

roads lead from woke and then back to woke.

It's this idea that they cast this spell, this kind of verbal spell or, you know, situational

spell.

They want you to believe. They want to lead you to

believe that the thing that they want to do or to implement or whatever is how it always is or how

it's going to be anyway. So we might as well do it their way. Okay. So let's take the example of tyranny. They might make the argument,

this isn't exactly their argument, but I want to do it with the idea of tyranny to make it very

clear. They might make the argument that, well, you know, actually all governments are tyrannical.

And in fact, all governments become more tyrannical over time and so that a totalitarian

government is how governments always end up. So we have two choices. We don't have more than two choices.

This, of course, if you remember, the other podcast I did about affordance traps is an affordance trap.

We have two choices. We can go into a tyranny consciously and therefore

set it up in a way that we want or we can stumble or sleepwalk into a tyranny unconsciously

and therefore it's going to be bad. This is the trick. That's the whole trick. And the whole

trick is based off of this claim that everything is already the bad thing

or the bad thing that's coming is inevitable.

Once you believe that particular thing, they can trick you through this affordance trap,

that we have two choices to accept the bad thing that is inevitable on our own terms, which of course they will control, or to accept the bad thing that is inevitable on our own terms, which of course they will control,
