0:00.0	Good evening. This is Radio Free Mormon. Ask any Mormon you happen to see to describe the godhead in Mormon theology,
0:09.2	and you will almost certainly get the following description, which was given in the Doctrine and Covenant,
0:14.3	Section 130, verse 22. Say it with me, the Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's. The son also.
0:23.4	But the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of spirit.
0:28.8	Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us. This description of the Godhead is taught
0:33.8	to all members of the LDS Church, and is taught by them to others and has been for over a century.
0:40.9	So it may come as a surprise that this was not always the version of the Godhead taught by Joseph Smith,
0:47.6	that prior to 1843, when Section 130 was received, he taught a different version of the Godhead,
0:55.6	that the earlier version was actually canonized and authoritative,
1:01.4	and that the earlier version was necessary to believe in order to be saved.
1:06.9	And that's the part I need to highlight here.
1:08.8	The earlier version Joseph Smith taught was necessary to believe in order to be saved. So why do Mormons teach a version of the Godhead today that will not save them according to Joseph Smith? This is the story of the lectures on faith and this is the story of why it is that all Mormons go to hell.
