It's coming to you live from Jerusalem today with me, Tim Franks, and here in Jerusalem, it's mid-afternoon, but it's already been quite a day.

Israel sometimes feels like a country which lives its history on fast-forward,

so many momentous events in such a short time span.

Today, though, will be one of those days, which you feel will be remembered here in the years to come,

more than anything,

because it's been the day when the 20 living hostages who had been in captivity in tunnels underneath Gaza

for the past two years were released and reunited with their families in Israel,

when some of the bodies of the 28 remaining deceased hostages were returned.

It's also, and not often does he take second billing,

but it's also been the day when Donald Trump has visited Israel,

addressed the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament.

It was a brief visit to accept the plaudits.

He's heading back right now to Air Force One at Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv,

and he's going to be crossing the border into Egypt to the resort of Shamel Sheikh

to host a summit of European and Arab leaders to try and cement this peace deal. We're going to bring

you some of the voices of the day from Israel, from the Knesset, from Gaza, as people there begin to

try to rebuild their shattered lives. But this part of the day belongs more than anything

to the story of the hostages and their release.

The excitement has been building for days.

Today it reached an even higher pitch, none more so, of course,
