Good day. It's April the 5th. If you start to notice some scrambling out of the White House,

say an executive order aimed at limiting mail-in voting or a primetime address to the nation

or a number of reports from inside the administration that they're racking their brains

to end the war in Iran or a couple of cabinet firings.

It may be because every day is another step closer to the midterm elections, which are on November 3rd, 212 days from today.

Donald Trump's approval rating dipped to 35% in a new CNN poll.

That's as low as it's ever been in that poll. And by the way,

that's about as low as it gets for Donald Trump, because he's got a built-in base of about a third

of the country that simply will not see him through a critical lens. However, fully 64% of

Americans disapprove of the job that he's doing. In a Quinnipiac poll released last week,

51% of registered voters say they would like to see Democrats take control of the House

in the midterm elections in November. That's an 11-point lead over Republicans. Donald Trump's

political instincts are to address his plummeting popularity by trying to discredit the elections

by sowing doubts about his integrity. And why not?

It almost worked for him in the past. This Tuesday, he signed an executive order seeking to

limit mail-in voting. It directed the Homeland Security Department to create an approved list of

absentee voters and forbade the states from sending mail-in ballots to any voter who's not on that list.

So in essence, it would provide the federal government of the way of preventing eligible voters from accessing absentee ballots for mailing.

23 Democratic-run states have already sued the government over the executive order.

And as things stand, Democrats do have the momentum, as I've been showing you in the polls,

heading into November, but it's 212 days away.

In the next few weeks, however, Democrats have some opportunities to capitalize on that momentum.
