Jeff, you've been writing about baseball for almost two decades now, and you break news, you've written a book, you've investigated serious issues in the game, you cover the most high-profile players and deals.

How do you see this story fitting into your body of work?

I think this is the most important story that I will ever write.

I say that because the subject of the story is so universal.

It touches so many people. It doesn't matter what team you're a fan of. It

doesn't matter what sport you're a fan of, really. Drew Robinson is the person who everybody knows,

the person who everybody loves, and the person who in the end, I think, everybody can see a little bit of themselves in.

And that is why when I was first told about what had happened to him,

I understood that this was gonna be,

unlike any other story had ever done.

Baseball like life demands that you make peace with loss,

with failure, especially at the plate.

For all the time spent practicing, a hitter swings and misses far more than they connect,

no matter how good they are.
