| 1:35.5 | In the summer of 1982 when I was five and she was 36. |

| 1:52.3 | Yeah, my father had become violent and |
| 1:59.6 | including smothering her with a pillow in what she described to friends as an attempted murder. |
| 2:05.8 | I was there at that, and I begged him to stop, and he, you know, he did stop. |
| 2:14.1 | She wrote in her diary that that incident incident after like a series of violent incidents that is what |
| 2:23.6 | solidified her decision to file for divorce so in the summer of 1982 moved, my mother and I moved to, well, what was term then, you know, battered woman shelter. |

| 2:50.3 | And, um. And they had, so during that summer, they had come to just a temporary agreement that I was going to spend weekends with my father, Friday night to Monday morning. |
