After the success of Alien in 1979, producer Walter Hill was keen to develop

sequel. However, the Alien sequel got stuck in development hell for several years. Finally,

in the mid-80s, 20th Century Fox hired a man called James Cameron to write the screenplay

for the sequel. Up until this point, Cameron had achieved success in both the action and horror

genres, having written the screenplay for Rambo First Blood Part 2, directed the low-budget
