Coming to you tonight from my home studio in the hinterlands of the Oregon coast,

the rain pelting against my window beside me, the season has changed, and things have gotten much darker.

So has my coffee, if we're honest.

I'm running on little sleep since back from my U from that taping in rural Indiana.

Next, an assignment takes me to Los Angeles, and this time I'm bringing you with me.

So more on that later.

But tonight, thousands around the world have experienced strange lights in the sky,

visitations by mysterious craft and beings, some even report being taken.

Formerly called contactees, then abductees, these individuals are now referred to as experiencers,

as the variety and degree of contact, and theorized intention, suggest a widespread phenomenon not so easily defined as simply abduction.

A Pulitzer Prize winning Harvard psychiatrist named John Mack fell into the stories of these individuals.

And through it, perhaps only came out with more questions than answers.

Former New York Times reporter Ralph Blumenthal chronicles the life and career of Mack in his book Believer,

Alien Counter, the Believer, Alien Encounters, hard science, and the passion of John Mack.

And perhaps like Mack himself, helped usher a new era of UFO as the co-writer to the groundbreaking New York Times story

on the Pentagon's secret UAP program.
