shares of Alibaba under pressure today after the internet giant announced its CEO and

chairman. Daniel Jong will be stepping down to focus on the cloud business.

So Sarah this is more of a leadership shuffle than a major change or upheaval and that does

matter because it could signify that Jack Ma founder of the company is still calling the

shots despite the last few years of regulatory

pressure and a crackdown that essentially saw him go into hiding.

Two veterans of the company and they are Jackma insiders, Joe Tai and Eddie Wu, they take

over as chairman and CEO respectively.

Sai is the Canadian Taiwanese owner of the Brooklyn Net, so he's the more

international facing executive Eddie Wu. He's seen more of a technologist helping to develop Taubao and Ali Payne,

the monetization efforts behind them. They are the two people that will replace Daniel

Jong and sit atop Alibaba after the current restructuring is complete.

Now of course this comes after years of turmoil that has wiped out hundreds of billions of

dollars of market value and it's a e-commerce competitor, Pinduau-Dwau-M make inroads internationally and ultimately split

at the al-ibaba into six units that process is ongoing now.
