Summary

Alia Shawkat came by the Bullseye studios and holy moly, what a brilliant, funny human being! You know her as Maeby Fünke from TV's Arrested Development, which just dropped its fifth season. She also leads the TBS series Search Party these days. But Alia just starred in a really interesting film - it's called Duck Butter, and it tells the story of two women who fall in love and decide to spend the next 24 hours together, awake and totally present. Then, Mackenzie Crook. You've seen him before - maybe it was as Gareth on the original UK version of The Office. Or maybe you saw him in Pirates of the Caribbean or Game of Thrones. But his passion project is Detectorists - a three season British show he stars in and create. It's finally come to the states in its entirety via Acorn TV. It's a show about metal detecting, relationships, and the English Countryside and it's one of our favorite things on air. Finally - we know nobody can break the laws of physics. But if we had to pick one person who might be able to, it'd be NFL running back Barry Sanders. Jesse tells you why.

0:16.7	UK, you probably know Mackenzie Crook. He played Gareth, kind of the office dope. Gareth

0:28.4	self-worth. He kisses up all the time. But I think this is really important. Maybe even
0:35.8	the most important thing about Gareth. He has a really, really bad haircut. Like a bowl
0:42.8	cut kind of, and I mean, this should be obvious, but when he got the role, Mackenzie didn't
0:49.9	already have the haircut. He had to go out and ask for the haircut. I was instructed
0:55.9	to go and get my haircut. I went into this hairdresser and I said to the guy that I needed
1:03.7	a bad haircut. I wanted a bad office workers haircut. Did you go into a fancy haircut
1:10.7	place or a... Yeah, it is. Yeah, in London, Soho. This guy that I asked to do this was a
1:16.6	little bit put out because he'd been to college to learn how to do good haircut. It's
1:21.7	like... This week, Mackenzie croak talks with me about the office and about the TV series
1:33.8	he created and in which he stars. It's called Detectorists. It's about guys with metal detectors.
1:40.8	Detectorists is a charming kind of sparse show. And when it isn't focused on guys with
1:46.2	metal detectors, it's got some killer b-roll. And I said to the crew on the first day
1:51.2	that anyone finds an interesting bug or a toad or a bus fly whatever, bring it to me and
1:56.2	move try and get these shots. But first, all you shock her. She plays maybe on TV's
2:02.0	Raster Development, which is a role that she's had on and off since she was 14 years old.
2:07.0	It worked out so well. It gave her kind of unrealistic expectations. And because I was
2:12.5	young and had an experience before, it was, you know, I'd been on another TV show, but
2:17.1	this was only my second one. And you get nominated for an Emmy. And you get nominated
