My guest today is Alexander Ward, a national security reporter at Politico and anchor of

National Security Daily.

He's the author of their recently released book, The Internationalists, The Fight to Restore

So I thought we could start, well, at the very beginning with the title of your book, or actually

in this case, the subtitle is where I'd like to jump in, the fight to restore American policy

after Trump.

Now, the assumption built into that title

is, of course, that American foreign policy needed to be restored after Trump. So I thought we'd

start there. What's the case you make that American foreign policy was in need of restoring in

2020?

Well, it's a totally fair question. And in fact, I should say that it's not necessarily my diagnosis. It's the diagnosis of the Biden administration, who I write about. Right. So in there,
