Hello and welcome to how to Take Over the World. This is Ben Wilson. We're back with part two of the life of Alexander the Great.

A quick recap of where we're at. Alexander grows up in Macedonia, takes over his king when his father dies,

mops some things up back home, then invades the Persian

Empire. He scores a major victory at the Battle of Granicus, which wins him all of Asia Minor,

modern-day Turkey, and then he wins another large battle at the Battle of Isis. And for the first time,

he has defeated the fully assembled army of the Persian Empire and now appears to be a significant

threat to them. But having said that,

if Alexander were to die at this moment in time, he would be a footnote in history, someone who

was viewed as maybe a good general, someone, you know, he'd be noted, but someone who's

ultimately forgotten. And so in this episode, what we're going to see is him becoming Alexander the great. What did he do? What did it take to be remembered as one of, if not

the greatest, probably the greatest of all time when it comes to generals and statesmen and conquerors?
