| 0:00.0 | Hello, do I still look feverish? You look nicely flushed. Okay, let's go with that. It's your radiant |
| 0:19.4 | Hello, welcome to another episode of the weeds on the box media podcast network Matthew Glacias here with Darryl and |
| 0:25.8 | Jane Kosen. Unfortunately the episode that we did live last week in Austin, Texas, which I |
| 0:33.3 | happen to think was pretty great. It was a beautiful, ephemeral experience. The audio of that has been |
| 0:40.5 | lost to the sands of time. So we are back in the studio to record a fresh brand new episode for |
| 0:46.7 | all of you. And I also want to remind you that we have fresh brand new episodes not only on Tuesdays |
| 0:51.7 | and Fridays, but also on Wednesdays. We did one this week. It's going to continue through the Wednesday |
| 0:57.4 | after election day. Very exciting midterms focused stuff. But here today we're waiting for the |
| 1:03.2 | brec Havanaugh vote. Politics is in a bit of a holding pattern. So we want to talk about something |

| 1:32.1 | obviously Amazon employees, lots of different kinds of people. But the people who work in the |
| 1:35.2 | warehouses get paid less money than the people who designed the artificial intelligence. And so the |
| 1:40.2 | wage for entry level warehouse workers is going up to $15 an hour. They're not alone among sort of |
| 1:46.6 | big retailers in raising pay recently. But the $15 an hour target is significant because that has been |
| 1:54.8 | a point of a lot of left political emphasis over the past three or four years. And Amazon also |
| 2:01.2 | said that they are going to lobby for a $15 an hour minimum wage. So they sort of bowed to critics, |
| 2:08.8 | they're raising pay. They've raised pay specifically to this politically salient cut point. And now they |
| 2:14.7 | are like throwing in with the communists and going to try to raise wages across the board. Obviously, |
| 2:21.3 | good news for several tens of thousands of people who work at Amazon and probably for others working |
