My my solution was to talk to the senior officials, the senior attorneys on the

National Security Council and see if we could write the ship. My my efforts were

geared towards letting John Eisenberg know that this was a huge risk to both our

national security and to our policy and frankly to the president whether he knew

it or not that he was potentially doing something criminal it wasn't clear to me

but I thought that could be something criminal in his machinations and that

these attorneys whose job it was to provide this kind of check could

draw us back from the edge. That's not the way history unfolded.
