When I was a kid, and I had to go down to the basement to fetch something for my mom, I hated opening that door. And once the errand was accomplished, I would run up the steps like the devil himself was after me. There was something about the dark and unknown that my naive little heart wanted nothing to do with. Today, the notion of gatekeepers and hall monitors for the deep state has that same effect on me.
