Summary
The Murdaugh case didn't start with murder. It started with a century of believing the rules didn't apply.
From 1920 to 2006, three generations of Murdaughs served as solicitor in South Carolina's 14th Circuit. They controlled who faced prosecution. They built a machine that protected their own. And they raised Alex to believe he could get away with anything.
Part 1 of "The Name" explores the generational psychology behind the Murdaugh crimes. How families built on power and image produce people who believe consequences are for other people.
If you've felt trapped by family expectations — if you've carried weight you didn't ask for — you'll recognize something here.
