Summary

When Alex Hermanson, a.k.a. “Herm Runs,” started following other runners on social media, “I didn't really see anyone that I personally related with wholeheartedly,” he recalls. “So I was like, ‘I'm just going to go make that myself.’” That was in late 2022, and now the self-described “big dude who runs a lot” has an online community of almost 100K and an in-person running group, the Not Yet Named Run Club.

Thank you to HydraPak, Tracksmith, and AG1 for sponsoring this episode.

HydraPak is the number one original equipment manufacturer of reservoirs and soft flasks in the world. They are continually looking for ways to help runners and their communities lessen their environmental footprint, and consequently their reusable hydration products are aimed not only at supporting athletes in pursuit of their personal goals, but at reducing single-use waste.

Most recently, they unveiled their Cupless Racing Partnership Program, designed to support trail and road races across the country in eliminating race day waste by offering their collapsible and reusable SpeedCup as an alternative to single-use cups at running events.

Tracksmith is an independent running brand inspired by a deep love of the sport. For years the brand has elevated running wear using best-in-class materials and timeless silhouettes that perform at the highest level and can be worn everyday, not just for running.

Tracksmith helps the environment by making comfortable, durable clothes that will last for years, rather than winding up in the landfill. They help athletes who are trying to make the Olympic trials, and they offer scholarships for creatives to work on their crafts.

Hello my friends, welcome to episode 403 of the Running for Real podcast.

0:51.8

Thank you for joining me today. I'm excited that you are here and I have another of these episodes today where I actually knew very little about my guest going into this. In fact a week before I recorded this I didn't know that he

1:04.8

existed I was recommended him by a friend thank you said and I started looking his

1:11.2

content on social media and loved it. The realness in him felt

1:17.1

very aligned with the way that I talked to you, the way that we have this relationship

1:22.1

between myself and those of you listening, just very real

1:26.2

and raw and he spoke to a lot of the same topics that I have spoken to over the years, which I really

1:30.8

loved. So this episode is a little bit different because we actually didn't go in the

1:35.5

direction I thought we were going to go in. We started there and then we kind of veered off. But it was a very

1:42.1

organic and also almost like a friendship conversation as if we had just been introduced at an event and we were just talking.

1:50.0

So I hope you enjoy this episode. I was really excited to bring Alex

hermansen on the show. Alex also known as herm runs on social media is really

2:00.9

gaining popularity and for good reason.

2:03.2

I mean he is just so easy to love
