Tetragrammaton

We came here and said, okay, you know, I think let's take a year,

and at the same time it was an adventure to go out and explore creatively a way to make a film

with no comfort of my country and my language and all the things,

because I could have become a

very comfortable artist being in my own ranchito in Mexico. But anyway, so it was different things,

never planned to be so many the years, but then it happened. Any idea what in your life,

in your upbringing allowed you to have the freedom you have and the way you approach your art?

Because you feel completely free.

There's a certain innocence, I guess, because I do not come from academy.

And none of my family were in the art business, let's say,

obscenary. There's no, I'm like the black sheep, let's put it that way. And so suddenly I'm like

an auto-didactic, self-made, savage, naive, if you like, or innocent kind of guy that in a way,

the only way for me to learn was to explore, make mistakes, and the process of it,

in a way, it's a natural stage for me to be, you know, basically trying things and not thinking

rationally with, I will say, I have learned to get some principles that I learned that

you have to have as an artist, but not rules that. I never learn rules, let's put it that way.

And I think that liberate me a little bit, you know.

It's amazing.

It's amazing to see, and that's why I feel so,

I feel there's a, I feel sympathetic with you.

Like, I feel like somehow we ended up in this place.
