We're going to be talking tonight a little bit about addiction.

We've talked about on the show before. So hitting some of those points, bringing in some new ones.

But as always, we're looking at it with a critical lens, understanding that there's a lot of different ways to

conceptualize such a thing. You know, I talked about this during pandemic times, how a lot of people's

relationship to drugs and alcohol was changing and shifting. And that's generally the terminology I use.

I don't tend to use the word addiction because addiction isn't a single entity. It shows up differently

for everyone with different

causes. Everyone has different needs. And so it's really about us always looking at our relationship

to drugs, our relationship to alcohol, and trying to find ways to make it healthier. One,

having at times a problematic relationship with drugs or alcohol doesn't mean it's something

you need to permanently remove from your life although for some that's the best route to go

and for others they want to just decrease their use or reduce the harm it causes or maybe remove

alcohol or certain kinds of drugs and still use marijuana or other things.

So again, we're going to hit a lot of different topics, a lot of different things to kind of

And yeah, so we're going to kind of jump into that one.

This is something that I want people to always be assessing because our relationship to drugs

and alcohol at one point in our lives does not mean that that's how it will always be. And just because at one time

it was difficult doesn't mean it will always be difficult. And just because at one time it's been

functional, doesn't mean it always will be. Within the field, it tends to be looked at as alcohol
