It is the day after the night before, the autumn statement, which was not only delivered in what can only be described as a very calm and collected way,

but actually reverberated around for all of

the afternoon yesterday when people started to discover that there was quite a lot that Jeremy Hunt

didn't say that was actually going to make you all an awful lot poorer. So thanks very much

indeed to Jeremy Carl for the last three and a half hours because he was talking to an awful

lot of people who are sick to death, fed up to the back teeth of a Tory government that spends money

willy-nilly that tells you that you have to take more pain, that you have to pay more tax,

that you'll have to lose even more of your income in order to pay for all the things that they

want to do. And yet, they still expect you to vote for them in a couple of years' time.

Richard Tyson is here with me this morning, an awful lot of people wondering when reform

were going to take over the government.

I don't know how possible that's going to be, and I can't sit here, obviously, and

endorse another political party.

But for God's sake, the Tories have run out of road, surely, and they keep asking us to

keep paying for the next bit of road that they want to build without actually building it.

They want money and then they waste it.

We were seeing yesterday there was something like 14 billion pounds of waste in the civil service alone,

including all the fraud that went out during COVID,

including all of the ridiculous grants that were paid to companies that weren't even real,

as well as ridiculous amounts of money
