San Francisco Bay, November 20th, 1969.

It's dark and cold, and they are in the water, huddled together in a small trawler.

For what must have seemed like a good idea at the time, but now the actuality of it was hitting our travelers.

That at any moment, their tiny vessel could be rammed by a giant tanker in the bay that

wouldn't even see them, as they were keeping all lights off, so not to be detected by a Coast Guard vessel.

In obvious violation of maritime navigation etiquette,

desperately, as they passed under the Golden Gate Bridge

and saw the skyline of the city Coit Tower in the distance,

they could not be tourists in this moment,

so they had to keep their eye out for anyone watching them.

Salty, cold, forceful.

The Pacific wind was not forgiven.

And these travelers were not sailors, used to this kind of water. They were students,
