Hello and welcome to a special edition of Gammers with Jobs conference call, the Alan Wake and Bake edition.

So, Alan Wake 2 releases on Friday.

It has been a minute since the original, and I recently played the remaster. So I thought I'd take the

opportunity to give everyone a quick recap of what happened in Allen Wake and Control so you can

come into Allen Wake 2 with your memories primed. Now, Remedy has stated that Alan Wake 2 can stand on its own,

but knowing both the first game and

control will deepen your understanding of events and make your Easter egg radar, your

egg dar, more effective. The events of these games start before Alan Wake 1 does. This will be a

slightly different recap than my boulders ungated.

Aside from going through the stories of what happens beat by beat in each game,

I'll also try to lay out the lore and the background events in chronological order.

Alan Wake and Control both have DLCs and other ancillary contents, some of which is

likely more pertinent than others. I'll weave that in if it feels relevant, but this script is already

twice as long as my Baldur's Gate recap. So lots is going to be left on the cutting room floor,

but you should get the basics here. Okay, here we go. In the 1970s, poet, or perhaps

filmmaker, Thomas Zane and his love, Barbara Yeager, stay at Caldron Lake in the town of Bright Falls,

Washington. There, Barbara drowns, but Caldane Lake has mysterious powers. Unfortunately, these powers don't

manifest as a lady's arm throwing a cool sword. Instead of giving neat magic items to historically

unproblematic people, such as kings, the lake gives powers to the monsters of history. Writers. It allows writers to shape

reality through their craft. This is way more useful at first glance than Lake Superior's

mysterious power, which makes hockey enjoyable, but, as we'll soon discover, it comes with a price that's nearly as steep.

Zane is able to use Caldron Lake's powers to bring Barbara back, but she returns as a vessel
